Phoenix Foundation: Appointment of an Emergency Supervisor

As you know, English is not my first language, so yes, I use AI to help correct my grammar and express my thoughts more clearly. But I don’t think that should be the point of discussion; what matters is the substance of the arguments.

I appreciate that you agree the Foundation needs improvement and that having three Emergency Supervisors is a reasonable approach. I also agree that the current situation needs to be addressed without unnecessary delays.

Regarding the selection of candidates, I believe this should ultimately be decided through community governance. The application process should be open, transparent and give the community a genuine opportunity to assess the candidates, rather than leaving the decision mainly to the Foundation itself.

On the question of improving the Foundation’s structure, my point was not to delay accountability. Quite the opposite. I believe we could use this opportunity to address the immediate problem while also laying the groundwork for a stronger and more decentralised structure in the future.

If we are already appointing independent people to help resolve the current situation, why not take the opportunity to consider how we can bring more experience, different perspectives and new contributors into the Foundation? This could help us address not only the immediate dispute but also some of the structural weaknesses that may have contributed to it.

Of course, the emergency process should have a clear mandate and should not be held up by broader reforms. But resolving the current issue and improving the Foundation do not have to be mutually exclusive.

My concern remains that we should not place so much responsibility in the hands of one person, or predetermine the outcome before the process has run its course. We should give the community a meaningful role in selecting the people involved and ensure that the process is fair, transparent and independent.

Ultimately, we all want a stronger Foundation that can protect and develop Terra. I believe we have an opportunity here not only to resolve the current situation, but also to take a positive step towards making the Foundation more accountable, decentralised and representative of the community.
